Alex,

With no entries in your spamlist, bogofilter will think all incoming 
messages are ham.  Once you've trained it with some spam, it will be able 
to do a better job.

I suppose that you could ask members of the list to send you some spam 
:-)  Of course all responses should be sent off-list.
