Well, that's my instinct too - especially as I'm ignorant about DB.

Thanks for the explanations.  Since I've already converted to
transactions and things seem to be going fine, perhaps I'll leave
things as they are and wait to see how bogofilter develops. Good
documentation, clear explanations, a responsive mailing-list, and good
management tools, which are all excellent features of bogofilter, might
well enable someone like me to cope with the transaction approach
without my having to bone up on DB.
