Does setting the prefix as an absolute path (with leading slash) help?
for instance --with-libdb-prefix=/bigdisk/u/c/cahewson/BerkeleyDB

I have never tested a relative path and I doubt bogofilter will handle
it properly, because we're descending into subdirectories.

--includedir determines where C header files will be installed.
Bogofilter installs none, hence this option is no good.

You can (but need not) omit --exec-prefix if it's the same as --prefix.

Should be fine but I don't regularly test bogofilter on the IPX I have
access to.
