Tagging a message suits many people (in my environment) that understand
mail filter rules, or only get the odd email and want to simply scan the
subject line. Its flexible too as people can adjust bogofilter.cf to
suit individual needs. We also do not use IMAP.

Forward as attachment should work fine.

You could run a few test and based on these test write a simple shell
script that could 'clean' the wordlist.db and run it as a cron job once
per night.
