Blank emails

In the last month I received a few emails that were entirely blank
- no subject
- no body
One of these was from integrityol.com

Judging from the name I suspect that this is a ploy for checking if 
my email account is live, i.e..the company waits to see if the email 
is returned as "undelivered", if not, the name is added to a verified 
list of email names for sale to spammers.

If so I will soon be getting a lot more spam :-(

Not sure if there is anything we can do about it 
- Or could I forge an "undelivered" message to get my name off the 
list?
