Then you haven't looked close enough or on some obsolete Mozilla
version.

In Mozilla 1.0.1 (baseline code for the Netscape 6+ browsers), click through
Edit -> Preferences -> Privacy&Security -> Images and check "Do not load
remote images in Mail & Newsgroup messages".

Sylpheed-Claws doesn't display those images.

Pegasus 4.0 (Windows) doesn't display those images unless you double
click the message and choose "Show images (HTML only)" from the menu.

Evolution 1.2 lets you choose the remote image fetching from "never",
"for senders in my address book" and "always".

You'll find more as you look.
