Hi Tig,

Glad to hear you're up and running.  Undoubtedly you ran into a
portability issue.  There have been a variety of changes to configure.ac
and that's what makes the difference for you.  Being portable and having
the ability to configure for multiple operating systems and
distributions is, AFAICT, a black art.  Fortunately we have a wizard
(Matthias) capable of dealing with autoconf and automake.
