Which was the last version you've seen break like this?

Well if FreeBSD 5.0 client-side locking fails, that's no surprise for
me, it's fresh code. Does it need special mount options perhaps?

I don't know much about Solaris 2.5 NFS either, the versions I can
access are 2.6 intel and 8 SPARC.
