Greetings,
As many of you know Eric S. Raymond created bogofilter and was the primary
developer of it through version 0.7. About that time (mid-September) it
became a project hosted on SourceForge.
When you ask a search engine, about bogofilter the first hit is usually his
page. This isn't bad, except that the page the page hasn't been updated in
over 3 months. There's no indication on that page that a newer version of
bogofilter is available. People who go to that page get the very old,
unimproved version of bogofilter. The unlucky ones spend time with it,
struggle with the Judy library, and give up. The lucky ones spend time,
then search further, discover us, and get the latest and greatest version
of bogofilter.
I have written to Eric asking him to update his page and have it point to
SourceForge. If I don't hear from him, I will follow-up with a phone call
in a day or two.
There _is_ a project that's available for someone with the inclination to
do it. The project is to contact as many search engines as possible and
fill out their forms in order to encourage them to list the current
bogofilter project at the top of the list.
Any takers?
David
