For me (1.2.2), -R updates the database but outputs nothing, while -r
outputs the value of ROBX.

This reminds me that I've always wondered what the impact was of saving
ROBX to the database.  Does it have any effect at all (particularly if I
have robx set in bogofilter.cf)?
