Although I proof-read David's announcement, I missed this,
and am taking the blame for this minor inaccuracy.

The transactions based Berkeley DB mode locks at page level (not record
level), where a page is a few kBytes in size. At any rate, this is
usually only a small fraction of the whole database.

Bogofilter used to lock and still locks the whole database if working in
non-transactional mode (the way 0.92 and older worked) so that scoring
and registration cannot happen at the same time without transactions.
