I'm sorry, you've bumped into a bug we've fixed in the recent 0.94.14
release. Deep link to the 0.94.14 sources:

As a quick workaround, try

env BF_FORCE_TRANSACTIONAL=1 \
bogoutil --db-recover=/home/u/admin/.bogofilter

Let us know if 0.94.14 continues to give you such troubles.
