No.  Berkeley DB is the fastest.  SQLite3 has the advantage of inherent
support of transactions.  To quote from the 0.94.14 announcement:

Why transactions?  Because transactions offer ACID, which stands for
Atomicity, Consistency, Isolation, and Durability, which are key to
transaction processing in databases and ensuring the integrity of a
