NFS and transactions?

In an earlier thread (as well as the release notes) it says you can't 
use the latest versions of bogofilter unless your wordlists are stored 
locally. I notice though, that the news file for the latest bogofilter 
mentions that you can diable the transactions, does this mean that it IS 
possible to store wordlists on an nfs volume (provided the 
--disable-transactions parameter is used)?
