1. I was completely happy with 15.8 until I read about the small file size
in the changelogs - Whoohoo!:

15.8:
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 1168696 Oct 29 21:29 /usr/bin/bogofilter
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 1121048 Oct 29 21:29 /usr/bin/bogolexer
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 1178712 Oct 29 21:29 /usr/bin/bogotune

17.2:
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 195560 Feb 23 08:05 /usr/bin/bogofilter
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 80968 Feb 23 08:05 /usr/bin/bogolexer
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 210120 Feb 23 08:05 /usr/bin/bogotune

2. The patch.0222.datastore_db.c got me going with DB ver 3 on RH 7.3.

3. The other day, using 15.8, I compacted my wordlist with the "bogoutil -d
wordlist.db | bogoutil -l new.db" trick (resized from 125Meg to 70Meg) and
was dismayed at how fast the wordlist grew back again toward 125 Megs -
because I use the "-u".

Now running the new bogofilter version, I just learned about anew parameter
that should greatly slow the grow rate of my wordlist database:
  thresh_update=0.01
This really should be in the FAQ page - "Database Questions : I do I control
the growth rate of my wordlist database?

Good work guys!
