The Road to Version 1.0

G'day,

The primary goals for bogofilter-1.0 are to have a program that is useful,
capable, and stable. Bogofilter-0.10.2 (with patches) fulfills the first
two of these goals but (due to needing the patches) doesn't fill the third
goal. Here are the milestones I see on the road to 1.0. Version numbers
and dates (approximate) are included.

*** Milestone 1 - version 0.10.3

A bugfix, patch release for 0.10.2. We currently have patches for parsing,
locking, database access speed, documentation, etc that are due to be
included. I see these included and released as 0.10.3 towards the end of
this week.

*** Milestone 2 - version 0.11

The most significant pending change is using the Robinson-Fisher algorithm
as bogofilter's default. Given user preference for 2-state classification,
that will be the default.

Other changes for 0.11 will include the internal rework to used word_t* and
buff_t* variables for message and token strings. Tagging of subject line
tokens will be working soon. There may be additional changes like
additional html processing and a rework of the mime processing code, but
those are less certain.

The projected date for version 0.11 is the end of this month.

*** Version 1.0 ***

Presuming that 0.11 is stable, version 1.0 will follow in another 3 to 4
weeks - around the end of March.

... and this is what I foresee in the next couple of months as bogofilter
progresses towards its 1.0 release.

David
