Below are the download statistics for bogofilter versions 0.8.0 and 0.7.6.

0.8.0 has had 62.69% of the downloads (741 vs 441, out of 1182 
total).  tar.gz files were most popular (66.94%/69.84% for the two 
versions), followed by i386.rpm and src.rpm (16.60%/16.10% and 
8.23%/9.30%).  The debian and freebsd were much less popular.

Clearly, most of those who download want the source files and do their own 
builds.
