Problem found.  It's a killer for 0.8.0.rc2.  I'll commit the fix to cvs 
for HEAD and 0.8.0.  I'll "hide" the 0.8.0.rc2 and build a 0.8.0.rc3 in the 
morning.

Gotta hit the hay ASAP.
