HEADS UP: trio merge imminent

I'm about to merge trio NOW. Report all compile breakage to me with OS
and version, config.log and src/config.h and error description.

"make distcheck" passes on Linux with a made-up configure.ac that forces
trio in.

Note we currently have one test in src/ rather than src/tests, that's a
trio one. I don't want to make any efforts to move this test down to
src/tests and challenge automake's cross-directory dependency stuff.
