bogoutil segfaults

Interesting enough, sparc did NOT fail, although I'd expected it to,
because all other mentioned arch's are alignment sensitive.

Does SPARC support unaligned access?

Unfortunately, we don't see a stack backtrace. It should be printed
automatically when gdb is available.
